Hospitals and surgical clinics can now request perioperative and operating room nurses whose licensure, certification and background checks are completed before an offer is made, so a start date is not held up by paperwork.
The Bottleneck Behind The Surgical Backlog
Hospitals in Ontario and Quebec are working through surgical backlogs, and perioperative nursing is one of the roles holding that work up. An operating room cannot run short. A single unfilled perioperative shift removes a list from the schedule rather than slowing it down.
YTC Healthcare has expanded its perioperative and operating room recruitment to place experienced surgical nurses with hospitals and surgical clinics in the two provinces where the company holds staffing permits.
What Is Checked Before A Candidate Is Presented
Candidates are screened against the clinical requirement of the role rather than the job title. Licensure, certification and background checks are completed before an offer is made, which is the step that most often delays a start date after a candidate has already been accepted.
Onboarding and compliance documentation are handled by YTC rather than by the hospital, so a facility interviews only candidates who have already cleared verification. Placements are reviewed at ninety days rather than counted at signature.
Coverage is available for short notice single shifts and for longer term placements while a department is being built back up.
